Schools are more than places of learning—they are vibrant communities where students, teachers, administrators, and families work together to foster success. Within these walls, teachers guide and inspire, peers encourage and challenge one another, and a shared commitment to growth creates an environment where learning thrives. It is this spirit of collaboration and dedication that we celebrate alongside the education profession.

Each year, the Herb Kohl Fellowship honors outstanding educators and principals with a one-time $6,000 award—and provides a matching $6,000 grant to the recipient’s employing school.

We encourage schools to use these matching grants to advance the work that inspired the award: amplifying the honored educator’s impact, supporting staff professional development, or driving innovation in teaching and learning. The employing school at the time of application becomes part of the official record and review process. If employment changes after submission, the original school retains the matching grant.
